Alicent is 100% a horrible mother, but I believe she has always loved her children. The only reason she even went to war was because she feared for their lives since she thought Rhaenyra would kill them all once she ascended the throne. She may not be a loving mother, but she is hella protective of her kids.

Annie's laptop contained the evidence on Neuman, both the Red River files and the audio of Neuman, so it's highly likely that Sage is actually siding with her. Regarding the safe, the implication is that this shapeshifter has the ability to harvest memories because she also perfectly recalls details about Annie and Hughie's conversation about the costume, a conversation the shifter definitely wasn't privy to. So yeah, this shapeshifter is a *BIG* problem lol.
